Are those Feet!?!

Who's crazy enough to hold a bowl with their Feet & Why?
You might just be asking yourself: Are those Shannon's feet holding up a Really Super Cool Bowl? Well, yes, BUT no one was home! And I wanted to hold it up to a light so you can see the great colors in it. So...my brilliant idea was to hold it with my feet while I lay on my back with the camera pointed up at it. And, I thought it turned out pretty damn good, don't you? I'm just really glad no one saw me! I totally had to laugh at myself!

Ok, the whole story behind the bowl started when my brother Matt from Portland replied :

Matt said...
Ok I'm trying to get my lazy west coast self in the habit of keeping in contact w/family. I'm spending most of my free time making glass beads on my torch, so if you are into using glass beads in any of your crafts let me know size, colors and style and I will hook you up.

So I thought I'd show some of his work. My mom has some small clear & frosted glass plates he made that are perfect for candles. I totally need to steal those someday. Don't tell! That's all I have for now. Hint ~ Hint ;o) BTW Matt, Theresa wants some beads too. She'll take anything and she'll add them to her knitting or something.
Matt was also saying that Cara's mom said to send some of his work down to FL. and she wants to take it to some little shop near her. So I'll let you know if anything comes of all that. Mackenzie and I are looking forward to getting some beads to do some knot tying with hemp and adding some of Matt's beads to our necklaces & bracelaces.
BTW, Matt works at Bullseye Glass Co. in Portland, OR. if you want to check out the website. Ok, hopefully I'll get better on the updates. But this should please Theresa, Right!?! ;o)

Spike!

Caleb's new haircut!
Doesn't he look so much older with his new spikes?! He thinks hair jel is so cool and has to have it in his hair every day! I can't believe he's going to be in kindergarten this fall! My little man is growing up so fast.

Strawberries!

Ok, Sister Theresa...I'm Updating! ;o)

Well, at the beginning of this past week we went strawberry picking for the first time. The kids loved it and of course they each had to pick their own box full. Needless to say, I had 28 lbs. to take care of. After 2 days of washing berries, I gave away 7 lbs. to my mother-in-law, made 6 batches of freezer jam, 2 batches of fruit salsa and then pureed the rest for future sorbet. The kids actually want to go back but it's so much work doing all those berries!

Fruit Salsa
Recipe (from Tupperware)
12-16 oz. strawberries
2 kiwi
1 large Granny Smith Apple
1 T. Apple Jelly
1/2 lime, squeezed
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon Vanilla Spice (from Tupperware) or just Cinnamon
.
Cut all fruit into pieces. Put the apples in the Tupperware Quick Chef or use a Food Processor to chop about the same as hash browns. Then, add remaining ingredients chopping to desired consistency. (I didn't have apple jelly & it still tasted great)
.
Cinnamon Vanilla Chips
1 pkg. 6" flour tortillas
1/2 cup sugar
1 T Cinnamon Vanilla Spice (from Tupperware) or just Cinnamon
Pam Cooking Spray

Spray tortillas on both sides with Pam. Cut them into triangle 8ths and place in a large bowl that has a seal. Then add the sugar and cinnamon and seal your bowl. Shake gently until well coated. Bake these on cookie sheets in a single layer at 350* for 5-10 min. or until crispy - watch them closely depending on your oven! These are SOOO good with the fruit salsa or you can use van. waffers or gram. crackers ~ But the Cin. Chips are the Best!

Speaking of Tupperware...I'm having a party on Monday, June 26th if anyone wants to place an order, or if you need anything replaced or if you want to come and eat the goodies. We will be having the salsa and chips and a 7 min. cake in the microwave.

Just getting started...

Hi guys, ok here it goes...

I decided to start my own blog to rant and rave about what ever comes to mind. Hopefully this will be a place to keep everyone updated...if you care. If not...Don't visit ;o) Ok, just kidding.

Well as of Friday ~ school is out. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. I may be insane by the end of summer. Well, since I'm not working...the kids and I are hangin' around at home and the weather has actually been pretty warm here. So we got a new double slip-n-slide that the whole neighborhood has been hanging around enjoying. I've turned into the Kool-aid mom on the block. Some of these kids tell me they are hungry & thirsty and I'm thinking "Hey, I'm unemployed with limited snacks for my own kids ~ go home if you want a snack!" But do I actually say that...NO! I usually hand out juice pouches or make some popcorn. Ok - I'll stop.

I'm currently looking for a full time Massage Therapy job but not having much luck. It's hard when you still have to make enough money to cover the $200 a week for daycare. So is it even worth the job when you have to pay so much for daycare? Hopefully the right thing will come along by the end of the summer.

I'm doing crafts and trying to keep the kids out of trouble. The current summer project is Juice Pouch Purses. I'm going to have a booth at Mackenzie's elementary school Arts & Crafts Fair in the fall. So, I have the whole summer for the kids to drink up juice pouches so I can make purses, belts, wallets, totes and lunch bags. What can I say...my excitement knows no bounds. I suppose I'll leave all the big excitement to the big screen. Mom's night out is usually a movie! And speaking of movies...if you haven't seen Cars yet...You Gotta Go! It's Great!

Ok - So who's gonna comment first? ;o)
